Legal Centre for Gender Based Violence Association (trading name: Lawyers against Abuse (LvA))

NPO

Lawyers against Abuse (LvA) is a non-profit organisation that was established in 2011 to fill this gap. LvA’s mission is to ensure GBV victims and survivors have meaningful access to justice by providing specialised legal services and psychosocial support, engaging state actors and empowering communities. Over the last 15 years, LvA has cultivated an innovative and integrated approach to combatting GBV that works deeply in individual communities to provide comprehensive support to individual victims of abuse while also strengthening the local justice system’s response to GBV at a systemic level. We operate three walk-in Centres based in Diepsloot, Orange Farm and Hillbrow, three communities in Johannesburg known for extremely high GBV prevalence rates, poor service delivery and high levels of poverty and unemployment. Our work focuses on the following four programme areas: • Direct Legal Services: providing nuanced legal services to assist clients in securing protection orders and pursuing criminal cases of sexual violence and assault; • Psychosocial Support: providing trauma debriefing, individual and group-based therapy and counselling, shelter placements, empowerment initiatives and other forms of psychosocial support; • State Actor Engagement: engaging with key state actors to strengthen the local justice systems’ response to GBV by building capacity and creating accountability in instances of misconduct; and • Community Engagement: conducting targeted outreach and workshops for community members to raise awareness of GBV, legal rights and remedies and LvA’s services.

Queen Madonsela Stimulation Centre

NPO

Queen Madonsela Stimulation Centre for the Disabled is a registered non-profit organization (Reg. No: 163-803-NPO) dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for children with cerebral palsy and autism. Since its establishment on December 30, 2015, in Etwatwa Daveyton, the centre has been a pillar of hope for physically challenged children in our community. We operate 24/7 to ensure that every child under our care receives love, warmth, and the essential services they need to thrive. Our mission is to work in partnership with communities to provide holistic development and a dignified lifestyle for differently-abled children, regardless of their social status. Our vision is to create sustainable development programs that empower children with disabilities, allowing them to overcome challenges and lead fulfilling lives. Currently, our facility is unable to accommodate all the children who require our care. The existing space is limited, making it difficult to provide adequate housing, therapy and play areas. Our goal is to build a new, fully equipped centre where children with disabilities can receive the best possible support in a safe and stimulating environment. We are seeking assistance from businesses, donors, and supporters to help us secure a new premises using containers, Wendy houses, or mobile classrooms. These structures will allow us to quickly and affordably create a space that meets the needs of our children.

uMusa haven

uMusa haven

NPO

On any given day, the doors of uMusa Haven open to children eager to learn, play, and feel safe. Their laughter fills the rooms, bringing life and hope to a community that faces many challenges. Some children arrive carrying burdens far heavier than their years, but at uMusa Haven they find warmth, care, and a sense of belonging. Not far away, elderly members of the community often face loneliness and hardship. Many have spent their lives caring for others and now need support themselves. Through acts of kindness, visits, and community initiatives, uMusa Haven seeks to remind them that they are valued, respected, and never forgotten. At the heart of uMusa Haven is a simple belief: a strong community cares for all its people. Children, elders, parents, and neighbours are connected. When a child is protected, the community grows stronger. When an elder is supported, wisdom and dignity are preserved. When families receive help during difficult times, hope is restored. Every meal shared, every awareness campaign, every act of support is made possible by people who believe that change begins with compassion. Yet the needs continue to grow. With the support of donors and partners, uMusa Haven can expand its reach, provide essential resources, strengthen child protection efforts, support vulnerable families, and create a brighter future for those who need it most. Together, we can build a community where every child feels safe, every elder feels valued, and every family knows they are not alone.
