Annual School Shoes Campaign 2026 R100 Can Put 3 Pairs of School Shoes on Children's Feet Every morning, thousands of children wake up excited to learn and dream about a better future. Yet for many learners living in the RDP communities of Orange Farm and Vereeniging, something as basic as a pair of school shoes stands between them and a confident start to the school day. For many families, unemployment, poverty and the rising cost of living mean that buying school shoes is simply out of reach. Children often walk long distances to school wearing shoes that are torn, too small, or completely worn out. Others share shoes with siblings or attend school in inappropriate footwear. While these learners show remarkable resilience, no child should have to face these challenges while pursuing an education. The Annual School Shoes Campaign is a community-driven initiative committed to restoring dignity, confidence and hope to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. This year, we have identified five primary schools in Orange Farm and Vereeniging where the need is greatest. Our goal is to provide 250 pairs of school shoes to each school, reaching a total of 1,250 learners who deserve the opportunity to learn with pride and confidence. A pair of school shoes is more than part of a uniform. It represents dignity. It gives a child confidence to walk into the classroom feeling equal to their peers. It protects growing feet from injury during the long journey to and from school. Most importantly, it reminds every child that someone believes in them and cares about their future. We cannot achieve this mission alone. It requires compassionate individuals, businesses, foundations and corporate partners who understand that investing in a child's education begins with meeting their most basic needs.
