Our Mission
Kindness Matters Wellness Hub NPC is a South African nonprofit organisation working to make compassionate, trauma-informed mental-health support accessible to people and communities who are frequently overlooked by traditional services. Our work began with a simple belief: support should not depend on a person’s income, occupation, background or circumstances. Rather than waiting for vulnerable people to find their way into formal services, we bring care directly into the spaces where it is needed. Our primary initiative provides voluntary, confidential counselling, psychoeducation and practical support to women working in the sex industry and their families. Our counsellors build trusted relationships through consistent outreach, helping service receivers strengthen emotional wellbeing, develop coping skills, navigate addiction and trauma, improve family stability, and connect with appropriate medical, social and community services. Our approach is non-judgemental, non-coercive and grounded in dignity, autonomy and harm reduction. We are also developing a therapeutic community-garden initiative for unemployed and underemployed urban residents. The programme will combine accessible urban-farming skills with structured mental-health support, meaningful activity, social connection and opportunities for personal growth. Participants will learn to grow food in small or reclaimed urban spaces while strengthening confidence, routine, emotional regulation and a sense of purpose. Through both initiatives, we aim to create safe and practical pathways from isolation to connection, from distress to greater stability, and from surviving to participating meaningfully in community life. Donations help us provide counselling hours, outreach transport, therapeutic groups, family and child support, referrals, gardening materials, participant training and other practical assistance.
