Thembanathi Hope Centre
Our Mission
Thembanathi HOPE Centre is an initiative of the Harvester Reformational Church (NPC) in Delportshoop to provide food security and other related programmes to alleviate the plight of hunger and under-development in the community and surrounding areas. Our target area of operation is the greater Delportshoop, i.e. Ward 5, 6 & 7 of the Dikgatlhong Local Municipality in the Northern Cape province. Current Projects 1. Soup Kitchen The project started in 2019 during a week-long community outreach. It now provides cooked nutritious meals three (3) times a week to vulnerable individuals and families, particularly children and the elderly. It serves as both a relief effort for food insecurity and a place of care and connection for those in need. 2. After-School Programme This initiative offers a safe and supportive space for schoolchildren in the afternoons. Learners receive homework assistance, tutoring, and life skills training, along with recreational activities that encourage personal growth and positive social interaction. 3. Skills Training Projects In August 2023 we initiated a digitals literacy skills programme in partnership with Upington Co-Lab of Vaal University of Technology and NEMISA. We are now venturing into an in-house QTCO-accredited training programme for small-scale entrepreneurship, basic computer literacy, baking and agricultural plant production —aimed at empowering unemployed youth and adults to improve their employability and create sustainable livelihoods.
