Our Mission
Community Intervention Centre (CIC): A Story of Hope, Healing and Resilience For more than 25 years, the Community Intervention Centre (CIC) has been a beacon of hope for individuals and families facing some of life's darkest moments. Established in 2001, CIC was founded on a simple but powerful belief: no one should have to face trauma alone. Based at the Table View Police Station in Cape Town, CIC provides free, confidential, 24-hour trauma support to victims and survivors of gender-based violence, domestic abuse, sexual offences, violent crime, child abuse, and other traumatic incidents. Every phone call answered, every counselling session provided, and every life touched represents a commitment to restoring dignity, hope, and healing. Our work extends far beyond crisis intervention. We walk alongside survivors as they rebuild their lives, helping them regain confidence, access support services, and find a path toward independence. Through our Skills Centre, survivors of abuse and vulnerable community members receive practical training, job-readiness support, and opportunities to develop sustainable livelihoods. We believe that true healing comes not only from emotional support but also from empowering people to create brighter futures for themselves and their families. Every year, thousands of people reach out to our 24/7 helpline seeking comfort, guidance, and protection. Behind every statistic is a person,a mother escaping violence, a child overcoming trauma, a family finding hope after tragedy. Our dedicated team of trained counsellors, volunteers, and staff stand ready every hour of every day, ensuring that no cry for help goes unanswered. CIC's impact is made possible through strong partnerships with government departments, law enforcement, businesses, donors, and compassionate individuals who share our vision of safer, healthier communities. Together, we are breaking the cycle of violence, raising awareness, advocating, and creating safe spaces.
