Our Mission
The Vaal SmartMoves Chess Initiative is a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering children and young people through chess education. We use chess as a tool to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, discipline, leadership, confidence, and academic performance. Our programmes establish school chess clubs, provide structured coaching, organise community tournaments, and create safe spaces where young people can learn and grow. Operating across the Vaal Triangle, including Meyerton, Vereeniging, Vanderbijlpark, Sebokeng, and Sharpeville, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to unlock their potential through the game of chess and become a future leader in their community.
