What is Givio?
Givio is an interactive, map-based crowdfunding platform designed for South African communities. We connect campaign creators with donors through real-time updates, transparent tracking, and location-based discovery.
How is Givio different from other crowdfunding platforms?
Givio features an interactive map for discovering local campaigns, real-time donation tracking, transparent fee breakdowns, and built-in verification systems. We focus specifically on South African communities and causes.
Is Givio only for South Africa?
Yes, currently Givio is focused on South African campaigns and accepts donations in South African Rand (ZAR). We may expand to other countries in the future.
For Campaign Creators
How do I create a campaign?
Sign up for a free account, complete identity verification, and use our simple 4-step campaign builder. You'll add your story, set a goal, upload photos, and provide verification details. Our team reviews submissions within 24-48 hours.
What fees does Givio charge?
We charge a 5% platform fee plus 2.9% payment processing fee (Yoco). Donors can choose to cover these fees, allowing you to receive 100% of the donated amount.
When can I withdraw funds?
You can request a payout when your campaign deadline is reached OR when you've raised at least 80% of your goal amount. Funds are transferred to your verified bank account within 3-5 business days.
What happens if I don't reach my goal?
Givio uses a flexible funding model - you keep whatever you raise, even if you don't reach your full goal (as long as you meet the 80% threshold or deadline requirement for payouts).
Can I edit my campaign after it's live?
Yes, you can edit campaign details, add updates, and upload new photos at any time. Major changes (like the funding goal) may require admin approval.
How do I get verified?
Complete the identity verification section when creating your campaign. You'll need to provide proof of identity, proof of bank account, and information about your cause and beneficiary.
Can I create multiple campaigns?
Yes! You can create and manage multiple campaigns from your dashboard. Each campaign is reviewed independently.
For Donors
How do I donate to a campaign?
Browse campaigns on the map or search by category, click on a campaign to view details, enter your donation amount, and complete payment securely with your credit or debit card via Yoco.
Is my payment secure?
Absolutely. We use Yoco, South Africa's leading payment processor, with bank-level encryption. Your card details are never stored on our servers and all transactions are PCI-DSS compliant.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express credit and debit cards via Yoco. We're working on adding additional payment methods like EFT and instant EFT.
Can I donate anonymously?
Yes, you can choose to donate anonymously. Your name will not appear on the donor wall or updates, but the campaign creator will still receive your donation.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you believe a campaign is fraudulent, please report it immediately. Legitimate refund requests should be directed to our support team.
Will I receive a receipt?
Yes, you'll receive an email receipt immediately after your donation. For donations to registered NPOs, tax-deductible receipts may be available upon request.
What is "Cover the Fees"?
When donating, you can choose to cover the platform and processing fees (7.9% total) so that 100% of your intended donation amount reaches the campaign creator.
Safety & Trust
How do you verify campaigns?
All campaigns go through a verification process that includes identity checks, beneficiary verification, and story validation. We use a trust score system and verification badges to indicate campaign legitimacy.
What happens if a campaign is fraudulent?
We have strict anti-fraud measures in place. If fraud is detected, the campaign is immediately suspended, donors are refunded, and the account is banned. We also report serious cases to authorities.
Can I report a suspicious campaign?
Yes! If you see a campaign that seems fraudulent, click the "Report" button on the campaign page or contact our support team immediately. All reports are investigated.
How do verification badges work?
Campaigns can earn badges for Identity Verification, Bank Verification, Background Check, Nonprofit Status, and Trusted Creator (successful campaign history). More badges = higher trust score.
Technical
What browsers are supported?
Givio works best on modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge (latest versions). Mobile browsers are also fully supported.
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet, but our website is fully responsive and works great on mobile devices. A dedicated mobile app is on our roadmap.
Why isn't my donation showing up?
In development mode, donations remain "pending" until manually approved. In production, donations are automatically completed via payment webhooks within seconds. Contact support if your donation doesn't appear within 5 minutes.
Can I share campaigns on social media?
Yes! Every campaign has a unique URL that you can share on Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, or any platform. Use the share buttons on campaign pages for quick sharing.
Account & Support
How do I reset my password?
Click "Forgot Password" on the login page, enter your email, and we'll send you a password reset link.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, you can request account deletion from your account settings. Note that active campaigns must be completed or canceled first.
How do I contact support?

Do you offer phone support?
Currently, support is provided via email. Phone support is available for urgent issues - contact us via email for the number.
