Campaign Story

Keep a Girl in School: Menstrual Health & Dignity Campaign Every Girl Deserves to Stay in School with Confidence, Health and Dignity Every month, thousands of girls in South Africa miss valuable school days because they cannot afford basic menstrual hygiene products. Period poverty is more than a health issue—it is an education, equality and dignity issue that affects confidence, academic performance and future opportunities. BBOKAMOSO Skills Development Projects is a registered South African nonprofit organisation (NPO Registration No. 228-623, PBO Reference No. 930071634, Section 18A Approved) based in Meadowlands, Soweto. We are committed to empowering children, youth, women and vulnerable communities through education, skills development, entrepreneurship, food security, environmental sustainability and community development. Working closely with our partner schools—eMpumalanga Primary School, Rishile Lower Primary School and Thobeka Primary School—we witness the devastating impact of period poverty on young girls. Many learners stay home during their menstrual cycle because they do not have access to sanitary pads or other essential hygiene products. Others attend school feeling anxious, uncomfortable and afraid of embarrassment. No girl should have to choose between her education and her dignity. Through our Keep a Girl in School: Menstrual Health & Dignity Campaign, BBOKAMOSO aims to provide sanitary pads, hygiene packs and menstrual health education to vulnerable girls, ensuring they can remain in school, participate confidently in class and reach their full potential. Your donation will help provide: Sanitary pads Pantyliners Underwear Soap and toiletries Hygiene packs Menstrual health and hygiene education Dignity support for vulnerable girls Our campaign seeks to create lasting impact by: Reducing school absenteeism caused by period poverty. Improving learners' confidence, health and wellbeing. Promoting menstrual health awareness and education. Supporting girls to complete their education without interruption. Reducing stigma surrounding menstruation. Creating safer and more supportive school environments. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference. A small donation can provide sanitary pads for one learner. A larger contribution can support an entire classroom or school. Corporate and community partners can help sustain the programme throughout the school year. As a registered Public Benefit Organisation with Section 18A approval, BBOKAMOSO is committed to transparency, accountability and measurable impact. Every donation received will be used responsibly to support vulnerable girls in our partner schools, and donors will receive updates on the difference their generosity is making. When you support this campaign, you are doing more than providing sanitary pads—you are protecting a girl's education, restoring her confidence, preserving her dignity and investing in her future. Together, we can ensure that no girl misses school because of her period. Help us keep girls in school, protect their dignity and give them every opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.
