Campaign Story

Step Into Success: Back-to-School School Shoes Campaign Every Child Deserves the Confidence to Walk into School with Dignity At BBOKAMOSO Skills Development Projects, we believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty. Yet, for many children in Meadowlands, Soweto, something as simple as a pair of school shoes stands between them and a successful education. BBOKAMOSO Skills Development Projects is a registered South African nonprofit organisation (NPO Registration No. 228-623, PBO Reference No. 930071634, Section 18A Approved) dedicated to empowering children, youth, women, and vulnerable communities through education, skills development, entrepreneurship, food security, health, environmental sustainability, and community development. Operating from eMpumalanga Primary School and working closely with partner schools and local communities, we witness first-hand the daily challenges faced by learners from low-income households. Many children arrive at school wearing broken, worn-out, or oversized shoes, while others have no proper school shoes at all. Some walk long distances barefoot or in damaged footwear, exposing them to injury, illness, embarrassment, and social stigma. For these learners, the lack of school shoes is more than a clothing issue—it affects their confidence, attendance, concentration, and sense of belonging. Families already struggling with unemployment, rising living costs, and food insecurity often have to choose between buying food and purchasing school shoes. Through our Step Into Success: Back-to-School School Shoes Campaign, BBOKAMOSO aims to ensure that no child is prevented from learning because they lack this basic necessity. Funds raised through this campaign will be used to provide new school shoes to vulnerable learners attending our partner schools in Meadowlands, Soweto. Where possible, we will also provide socks and additional essential school items to support children's readiness for learning. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps restore dignity and creates opportunities: £20 can help provide a pair of quality school shoes for one learner. £100 can support several children from vulnerable households. Larger contributions will allow us to reach more schools and expand the campaign to additional communities. Your support will help us: Provide quality school shoes to vulnerable learners. Improve school attendance and punctuality. Restore confidence, dignity, and self-esteem. Reduce barriers to education caused by poverty. Support families facing financial hardship. Create equal opportunities for children to succeed in school. Our work is built on transparency, accountability, and measurable impact. As a registered nonprofit with Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) and Section 18A status, we are committed to ensuring that every contribution directly benefits the children and communities we serve. Together, we can help children walk into school with confidence, dignity, and hope for a brighter future. By supporting this campaign, you are not simply donating a pair of shoes—you are investing in education, protecting a child's dignity, and helping build stronger communities through opportunity. Thank you for standing with BBOKAMOSO Skills Development Projects and helping us open doors through education. Every step matters. Every child matters. Together, let's help every learner step into success.
