Campaign Story

Hunger Relief: Food Parcel Distribution to Women and Children Who We Are Emphemeni Community Development is a registered non-profit organisation based in Emabhuyeni, Ward 7, KwaZulu-Natal Chairman:M. Dumakude. We exist to restore hope and dignity to vulnerable families through hunger relief, community development, and support programmes. Every week we serve disadvantaged children, elderly people, and struggling families who are unable to meet their basic food needs. What Happened The communities we serve continue to face high unemployment, poverty, and rising food prices. Many mothers wake up each morning not knowing how they will feed their children. Some children go to school hungry, while others stay at home because there is simply no food in the house. Widows, single mothers, and women caring for orphaned children carry the burden of providing for their families with little or no income. Our volunteers have met families surviving on one meal a day, and in some homes grandparents are sharing their old-age pension with several grandchildren. These heartbreaking realities inspired Emphemeni Community Development to launch our Hunger Relief Food Parcel Distribution programme to ensure that no woman or child is left to face hunger alone. Hunger remains a major challenge for vulnerable households across South Africa, making community food support essential. How Donations Will Help Every donation received will be used to purchase nutritious food and prepare food parcels containing essential household staples such as maize meal, rice, beans, cooking oil, canned foods, soya mince, sugar, tea, and other basic groceries. Your support will: Feed women-led households struggling to survive. Protect children from going to bed hungry. Restore dignity to vulnerable families. Reduce the burden on unemployed mothers and grandmothers caring for children. Give families hope while we continue building long-term solutions through our community food garden and feeding programmes.Event Date: 09 August 2026 Location: Emabhuyeni, Ward 7, KwaZulu-Natal Emphemeni Community Development is a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to fighting hunger and restoring dignity to vulnerable communities in Emabhuyeni. In recognition of National Women's Day, we will host a special Hunger Relief Food Parcel Distribution for approximately 300 vulnerable women, children, and elderly beneficiaries. Many women in our community are unemployed or are single mothers who struggle to provide enough food for their families. Rising food prices and limited employment opportunities have left many households facing hunger every day. This Women's Day, we want to honour these women not only with words of appreciation but with practical support that will help feed their families. We are seeking donations of food items, food parcels, or financial contributions to make this event possible. Every donation will be used to purchase and distribute nutritious food parcels containing essential groceries to identified beneficiaries. While this National Women's Day event is a special outreach programme, it also forms part of our year-round Hunger Relief Programme. Emphemeni Community Development continues to provide food assistance throughout the year through our feeding scheme, monthly food parcel distributions, and community food garden to ensure vulnerable families receive ongoing support. By partnering with us, donors will help reduce hunger, restore hope, and improve the well-being of women and children in one of our community's most vulnerable areas. Together, we can celebrate Women's Day by making a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it Social Media platforms: Facebook emphemeni development, TikTok: emphemeni development.
