👟 EVERY CHILD DESERVES TO WALK INTO SCHOOL WITH DIGNITY Through our work in the school community, Kuier Met Liezl NPC has seen firsthand the challenges that many learners face. When we visit schools and speak to principals and educators, one concern comes up again and again: many children simply do not have proper school shoes. We have been told by principals about learners who come to school wearing sandals or tekkies because their families cannot afford the required school shoes. These children are not choosing to be different. Their families are often doing the best they can with very limited resources. Behind every child wearing the wrong shoes is a story we may never know — a family struggling to put food on the table, a parent trying to make ends meet, or circumstances that are simply beyond their control. And the heartbreaking part is that a child should never have to feel embarrassed about something that is not their fault. At Kuier Met Liezl NPC, we believe that education is about more than just sitting in a classroom. A child should be able to walk through the school gates feeling comfortable, confident, accepted and valued. That is why we are reaching out to our communities, businesses, organisations and generous individuals to help us provide proper school shoes for learners from poor and disadvantaged communities. We are looking for school shoes for both boys and girls, in sizes 9 to 7. You may think, “It's only a pair of school shoes.” But to a child, it can mean so much more. It can mean walking into school without worrying about what others will say. It can mean feeling proud when standing alongside their classmates. It can mean one less thing for a child to worry about and one more reason to smile. We cannot help every child alone. But together, we can help one child, then another, and another.
